WordPress is one of the best solutions for bloggers and small businesses. It has taken the mystery of “doing websites” away from all those “Web Guys” out there, and empowered everyday people and businesses to launch and maintain their own sites.

Here’s the issue, though: you can do your own site now, but what does it look like?

What I offer is different from a lot of Web developers out there. I work with you to develop a great-looking, branded design for your site, and you use WordPress to manage it. This is exactly what bloggers and web-savvy small businesses need: the design, the integration of the design, and that’s it.

Take your WordPress site from ‘hobbyist’ to serious.

Copyblogger.com launched during a slew of new blogs, all blogging about blogging. There are countless blogs out there covering the technology, trends, and techniques behind blogging - but Brian Clark’s site covered a huge gap - there was very little attention spent on the writing in blogs.

This site is great for bloggers using their space to construct more than just tweets or photo comments. Copyblogger dishes out inspiration, practical advice, and resource links for those wanting to truly publish thoughtful content. This is for “writers-who-blog” over “bloggers.”

Backpack, like the other Web-based applications from 37 Signals, has a minimalistic UI, designed to deliver just what it needs to only. At first, I found it all a bit too simplistic, but that was probably because I’ve been exposed to bloated Web applications so much. Give Backpack and their other tools a try, giving yourself enough time to appreciate applications that do things differently from the bulk out there.
